EVENT SCHEDULE
After a weather-malfunction forced the cancellation of the slalom and giant slalom at last year’s championship event, masters racers were eager to return to Whiteface Mountain for a “do-over.” Racers got a taste of the challenging venues with one of the best super G’s in recent memory before the weather turned uncooperative. This experience left racers anxious to race slalom and GS on the same trail, Draper’s Drop that has hosted so many top level USSA races. In 2009 they will have that opportunity.
This year’s event will feature SG training on Thursday; the championship SG race on Friday morning, followed by a one-run slalom, which will be combined with the SG to form a super combined competition, which will count toward the Eastern Championship overall scoring. Giant slalom will be held on Saturday, and slalom on Sunday with separate A/B and C/D courses.
Awards parties on Friday and Saturday evenings will include food, video, raffles, and prizes. The village of Lake Placid also offers the opportunities for bobsled rides, trips to the ski jump, and skating events.
