The USSA Sport Education department delivers high quality education programs at all levels of the pipeline for coaches of skiing and snowboarding in the United States. Our philosophy, based on the USSA Training Systems, is that we need to develop good skiers and riders with a solid and broad fundamental skill base first, then we can develop great competitors. With this long-term development focus, USSA recognizes that it takes the leadership of quality coaches at each level of the training system for athletes to reach their full potential in sport and in life.
The USSA Sport Education department works closely with the USSA national team staff, regional and development staff, sport scientists, and officials committees, along with several partner organizations, to develop resources and programming to help ski and snowboard coaches across the United States learn and grow in their profession. All coaches in the system have an important role, whether they work with first-time ski and snowboard competitors on a part-time or volunteer basis or with elite level athletes full-time. Through their membership with USSA, we work to provide coaches with tools to improve their effectiveness with their athletes of all levels.
A wealth of information for coaches is available on this website under the coaches tab. Video lessons can be found on our Center of Excellence TV channel. Educational manuals, DVDs and CDs are available by filling out the form below (USSA members receive discounts on all educational materials). USSA member coaches receive a monthly EXCELLENCE email newsletter with tips and advice. Coaches can also follow USSA Education on Facebook and Twitter to get updated on Education events and network and share ideas.
